My teaching philosophy is simple: Throw 'em in the water and help 'em swim. I believe to teach Mass Communications effectively there are two guiding principles: 1.) Practical application and real-world simulation are a must. 2.) Creativity & passion are essential. All my classes have a real-world, practical application at their roots. Using real products, services, & scenarios students are better equipped to enter their careers work ready. I use a variety of examples to supplement lecture material. I keep the information up to date, and I ask that my students know what's up when it comes to trends, marketing tactics, and news. Advertising and PR don't exist in a vacuum So, I always try to incorporate all areas of Mass Communications into my courses. I put in as much effort as my students do, and my classes aren't easy. There's a feeling of organized chaos to my classes, but the lectures are lively, animated, and engaging. Students might not understand the style at first but in the end, learning happens.
